Things in life are constantly changing. Accept it.

Whether it be a new technology coming onto the market, new people entering your life, change in your living environment.

Change is constant.

The ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus once said “Change is the only constant in life”.

And that is a fact. Change is everywhere.

Don’t believe me?

Take a look at our technology for example. One moment an app exists, the other moment an app is considered dead and people have moved on.

Take Facebook for instance. Facebook used to be the shit when it reached the general population. I remember making my Facebook account when I was 11 years old — 14 years ago.

Nowadays, Facebook has become a place for boomers because everyone else has moved on to the latest and greatest trend.

That example not only applies to technology. It also applies to every other aspect in your life.

Here’s another example. Take friendships. Are you still friends with the people you were friends with in elementary school? The likely answer is no.

Why not?

Because people change. And that’s not a bad thing.

Accepting change helps you grow

Take a look back to when you finished school and moved on to university.

You moved out, decided to start meeting new people, embraced a new environment.

Do you regret these changes?

Probably not.

Now take a look at who you were when you finished school and who you became once you graduated university.

Are those two versions of yourself different? Do you regret those changes?

Probably not. They have helped shape you into the person you were when you started working.

For alot of people changes happen naturally and unconsciously as you move from one phase of life into another.

You have unconsciously accepted those changes.

However, you can also speed up the personal development process by forcing yourself to change.

Actively searching for change

There’s nothing wrong with waiting for change.

Change will happen naturally by going through different phases of life. Traditionally these are going to university, entering the work force, getting married, having children and retiring.

But maybe you’re like me, and alot of other people, and believe in constantly improving upon yourself to figure out who you really are.

In that case, you can actively look for change.

But how?

Change is an integral part of personal development.

Recognize the pattern from the above example of moving through different phases of life that trigger change in yourself.

Moving through phases of life brings forces you into unknown situations and environments. Similarly to this, you can force yourself into new situations and environments.

New environments and new experiences cause a certain discomfort.

Look for different experiences in which you are uncomfortable to some extent.

Try out a new hobby. Go to a networking event. Travel. Volunteer.

Do anything that you can think of that you think that would put you into a new situation.

Change will be bound to happen.

If you want to become a new and improved version of yourself, seek discomfort and see where the road takes you.

You might even like where you end up.
